Who will be doing
my wedding? |
| |
Many disc jockey
companies have multiple shows going out each weekend. Some will book
you under their name and sub-contract with another company. A quality
disc jockey service should meet with you at least once in person to
develop rapport and discuss the details of your reception. You are
developing a guest list to assure who is going to attend your reception.
Why leave your entertainment to chance. ( You have the right to know
who will be doing your wedding!!) |
2. |
How much experience
or training do my disc jockeys have? |
| |
There are over 70 disc jockey companies in the Milwaukee area.
Experience and training varies. Some companies have just recently
begun to operate. Others have a well-known name but send out inexperienced
entertainers lacking proper training. Quality companies read industry
literature, and attend conferences. They only perform at functions
in which they have the proper training and experience .
|
3. |
What is included with your
Disc jockey service? |
| |
Some companies
send out two disc jockeys, some only one. Some companies offer karaoke,
fog, bubbles, and props as part of their package, others charge extra.
Some price quotes are for six hours, others quote four hour prices.
Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. |
4. |
Does the company take the
time to answer my questions? |
| |
The representative
from the company you are considering should be able and willing to
answer your questions. Be aware of pushy sales people and companies
who don't seem to be interested in your questions/concerns. |
5. |
Will your Disc Jockeys play
my requests? |
| |
All companies
should be able to provide you with the standards such as 50's-60's,
disco, etc. if there are special songs that you want to hear, is the
company willing to go the extra mile to get them for you? No company
is expected to have every song, but a willingness to satisfy your
tastes is important.(Be aware that there are disc jockey companies
that use free [illegal] mp3's, yet they charge you a premium price) |
6. |
How will my disc jockeys
work with other vendors? |
| |
A quality disc
jockey company should coordinate their services with the hall manager,
photographer, and videographer to make sure everyone is operating
as a team. Your involvement during the reception should be minimal.
You've already met with everyone and shared your desires. |
7. |
How will you assist me in
creating the atmosphere that I desire? |
| |
Some couples
are not sure of the type of atmosphere they want to create for their
reception. A good disc jockey should be able to provide suggestions
and let their clients know of his/her strengths or weaknesses. It
is easy for anyone to just play music. It takes a special talent to
to be able to interact and motivate an audience, and to play the right
songs at the right time. Most couples and their guests will want to
have fun. A good entertainer will know how to help people relax and
have a great time. |
8. |
How will your disc jockeys
dress for my reception? |
| |
Disc jockeys
should dress appropriately when doing a wedding. Some disc jockeys
dress casual during set-up (This is acceptable ). Then they change
into a suit, tux, or other dress clothes before the start of the reception.
Unless otherwise discussed, a disc jockey dressed in jeans, t-shirts,
polo shirts, or tennis shoes during the reception is unacceptable.
|
9. |
When will you be setting
up your equipment? |
| . |
Some companies
offer a four-hour package and do the set-up during or right after
dinner. This can be uncomfortable for the disc jockey and your guests.
They may need to prop open a door which may let cold/warm air in or
out. There is also the noise of moving equipment through the hall.
Guests may also have to move to make room for the disc jockeys to
bring in their equipment. Some companies offer six-hour packages and
do the set-up before your guests arrive.( This eliminates distractions
for you and your guests) |
10. |
How can I verify the quality
of your disc jockey company? |
| |
Make sure that you are dealing
with a quality company is very important. Some companies can provide
you with a video, showing the best of their company.(Keep in mind
that the entertainers in this video may or may not be working with
the same company by the time your reception date arrives). Some companies
can supply you with a list of testimonials and referrals from previous
clients(Unsolicited comments are best). Some companies will invite
you to see them in action ( This is a common practice and can be done
w/out disturbing if handled properly by the disc jockey). The quality
of written materials, professionalism of company representatives,
and checking BBB can also be valuable in determining a company's reputation.
