Olbrich Gardens, established in the early 1950's, is named after Michael Olbrich, a founder of the Madison Parks system. The outdoor gardens offer endless variety and beauty. Enjoy the peace and tranquility, discover plant varieties, and gather a few ideas for your home garden! Wide paved pathways and shaded park benches help make your visit comfortable as well as breathtaking.

Escape to the Tropics!

A rushing waterfall and flowing stream, bamboo arbors, wooden bridges, and free-flying birds give a realistic feel to this tropical forest adventure.
The Bolz Conservatory, a sunny, 50-foot high glass pyramid, is home to a lush tropical paradise filled with exotic ferns, towering palm trees, and colorful flowers.

Facility Rental Information
Large and small rooms with catering facilities are available for group rental. The outdoor gardens and conservatory can also be rented for small weddings.

To receive an outline of our facility rental guidelines, along with a description of the facility, please call 608-246-4733, Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Individuals or groups wishing to utilize the Olbrich Botanical Center for a wedding ceremony should request the Wedding Ceremony information piece for all applicable policies related to the use of the Gardens for a wedding ceremony.

Come and Visit!
  • The outdoor gardens are open from 9am to 5pm and admission is free.

  • Conservatory hours are 10am to 4pm. Admission is $1.00 for adults and students ages 6-18, and free for children ages 5 and under.

  • Open daily. Closed December 25.

  • The gardens and conservatory are wheelchair accessible.

Olbrich Gardens is located across from Lake Monona, 2.5 miles east of downtown Madison at 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin. Picnic facilities and playground equipment are available in nearby Olbrich park.
